bgl91
Hello! I'm looking to buy a '91 Les Paul, but I don't know nothing about this model. Can you tell me something about it from the pictures posted here: https://imgur.com/a/RRgz2vN Thank you!!!
kidblast
probably not a lot to tell ya about, I have a 95 Standard, and I'd put a good guess out that the pickups were still 490R/498T in 91. Pretty much a "standard" standard by the looks of it. Appears to be all original and in excellent conditon. If the price is "right" I'd hit it. jdgm
Someone has changed the neck pickup for a single-coil P94 (humbucker-size P90, which is a fine pickup). Looks ok from here. Good luck!
kidblast
CRAP man. I DID not even notice that, took a second look and sure enough P94 in the neck.. I call that a FAIL on my part. Edited June 22, 2020 by kidblast
bgl91
The guy has the original pickups too. There are 2 things that I'm not so sure about: 1) He's selling it as Les Paul Classic. 2) The serial Number. The body says January 1991, the serial number makes me think of 1992. jdgm
Well that truss rod cover definitely has the word "Standard" on it! Was the word 'Classic' used for LPs in 91-92? Don't know but they might have started using that instead of calling them the '1960' model, which was essentially the same thing with a 1960s profile neck - slimmer than the 50s RIs. As for the date; 1991-2 was a VERY good period for Gibson. I wouldn't have thought a 1991 body would 'hang around' in the factory until 1992 but it's not impossible. If you do make an offer, ensure you get those original pickups as well.
