Gavin Sweeney Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Hi - I'm new to this forum. I'm an Irishman - based in UK. I wonder can anyone enlighten me about a dilemma I have? I have a Gibson Advanced Jumbo 1935 Reissue (just bought) - however it doesn't have a headstock (this got detached and is also missing in action!) Therefore I can't re-attach the headstock:( I wondered if it's possible to get a neck replacement - to the same specification.? Does anyone know if this can be done and who could do it? Thanks Gavin Quote
Twang Gang Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Almost anything can be done. A really competent authorized Gibson repair shop could attach a new headstock, but I like your idea of a new neck better. It is not easy to remove the old neck (glued in, and meant to be there forever), but it can be done. But you have to find an authorized Gibson repair shop and I'm not sure how many of those there are in Great Britain? That is the only way to get a genuine Gibson made neck. Quote
merciful-evans Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 I think it would cost a bomb to have a neck replacement. Did you buy it like this? A competent luthier could make a replacement headstock and join it, but of course it would not be worth that much afterwards. It mostly comes down to money. Quote
