Round C, Modified V, Slim taper, etc. Basically I don't like thick necks and if someone could tell me some names of the thinner ones for Gibson acoustics that would be great! I'm good with nut width of 1 & 3/4 or 1.72 etc but I don't like the thicker, chunkier necks. Any help is appreciated! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Leonard McCoy Posted December 27, 2020 Share Posted December 27, 2020 (edited) To boil it down for you, with those preferences, just avoid the 50s and early 50s style necks and you'll be fine, and go for an asymmetrical neck if you suffer from anything like carpal tunnel syndrome. Fidalgo Posted December 28, 2020 Share Posted December 28, 2020 (edited) You will want to stay away from the Historic Thick V and the Luthier's Choice profiles as they are full carve necks. The Slim Taper , like the J15 spec, is very thin. The Medium C is also not very full. The Round profile can be thick or average. It seems to be a little less consistent. The Round profile on the J35 Reissue doesn't seem very thick, but the Round neck on J35 Vintage Collector's Edition is a true handful.
