SG Special Faded...the next step

Still no Bigsby (since I just bought the amp head pictured below) but here's SG with pickup covers added. Note the black pickguard and truss rod cover screws (yeah, I changed 'em out on the rear access plate, too.)

More to follow as I modify it.

+1

That's a really neat idea what you did with the pickguard' date=' truss rod cover (and electronics cover) and the screws. Mind if I copy that? Keep the mods coming! [/quote']

Yeah, PM me and I'll send a licensing agreement....

Seriously, I change out the chrome screws on all my instruments with dark pickguards. Once you start noticing the chrome ones, they get annoying.

I **really** bought the beast to put a Bigsby on, just before Christmas, and here it is the middle of April. Maybe next month.

Oh, and thanks for the kind words.

How are you planning to mount the bigsby? I wanna do the same' date=' but i cant decide which route to go[/quote']

Get the Vibramate and you won't have to drill any holes. They make one specifically for the SG Standard ... to accommodate the big pick guard.

BTW, REALLY REALLY nice idea about blacking out the screws. GREAT job ... might steal it from ya!

The Vibramate was my plan. I'd like to have a Bigsby on my pretty blonde 335, but I can't bear to do it. Maybe putting one on the SG will be a substitute a) by making me think I don't like Bigsbys that much or :- scratching that itch.

Thanks for the remarks about the black screws. I've done that to several guitars and basses so far. The first one was a pretty blue agave (light metallic blue) fretless Jazz bass with a black pickguard. For some reason the chrome heads really stood out on that one. Once those screw heads start looking back at you, you have to do something!
