marco mancini
Hello there American brothers i had a very unpleasant problem with the original case of my Firebird as- for my taste - it wasnt smelling right, for that reason i had to buy a new one on line as you cannot do that from the gibson custom shop dept . Those new cases have got a sort of step just across the vibrola which to me doesnt seem a problem when i close the case , they look soft enough to not get in the way of the bridge and the whammy bar when the guitar is resting , is that the case as far as you can tell ? and also is that the right way to rest the whammy bar inside it ? past pics of both cases the new one and the original https://ibb.co/4m7LWXy https://ibb.co/0ZkdLWn thanks to everybody Edited Sunday at 05:57 PM by marco mancini

Eracer_Team
The cases typically smell like a vanilla type smell (cause of the glue) most of us like that smell. alternate case probably not an issue with the nitro finish
marco mancini
The two cases that you saw on the pics have two different materials , the original one https://ibb.co/0ZkdLWn once shut comes in contact with the fingerboard which looks like to favor the smell of rust on the strings which in turns spread to all the case and attacks the guitar as well , whereas the other seems to tackle this problem better , i even came to think that it could be the material of the guitar fingerboard which favours this problem but i would't want to be pessimistic !
