Flight959
I have recently fired up my desktop and noticed it doesn't connect to the internet.. It seems to idle searching for my google home page. In the internet connection tab I have noticed there's an "Internet Gateway" active.... Its seems to being doing something. If I disable it I loose the internet connection on my wireless laptop... Am I getting humped?? Regards

Flight959
Simon it could be your anti virus is using a virtual gateway to detect viruses (very common). Or something installed a gateway behind ur back (very possible). Who makes ur anti virus program? Thanks.. Im using AVG...I know you dont rate it but I dont really use the desktop... What was the name of that program to download we discussed some months ago.. Regards

tazzboy
Sound to me like you might want to have ISP reset your internet connection. I would also suggest downloading this If you are using Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
flyingarmadillo
I had the hard drive crash on my laptop. During the repair/restore the the tech installed AVG software and I had all sorts of connection issues. I finally ended up ditching the AVG and going back to Norton. Since then I've had no connection issues and the machine is much faster. If the problem continues, get rid of the AVG software and install something else (Trend Micro, Norton, Kaspersky are all rated higher than AVG).
