ksdaddy
They used three screw truss rod covers once in a while in the mid 70s but there doesn't appear to be any pattern. As a rule, three screw truss rod covers would indicate a fake; if it's from the 70s you'd have to look at other attributes to help you determine if it's real or not. bkharmony
Are you perchance watching this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120486416940&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:US:1123#ht_720wt_1038 So suspicious. Looks like an Epiphone EJ-200 pickguard. The back looks very odd and the headstock seems all wrong - plus the three screw truss rod cover.

pohatu771
That Jumbo is fake... look at the label. But Gibson has used three-screw truss rod covers on some acoustics in the 70s, as well as on the Songmaker series today. There also select electric models that have it, but not the traditional "bell" cover.
