Bender 4 Life
I've read many times over that Epi's use Phillipene "Lauan" in their LP's, which is a much lighter cousin to (and therefore legally called) mahogany. My LP (actual) weights + compositions, (as billed) are: Gibson '88 LP 30th Anniversary Plaintop-14.1 lbs. maho./plain maple Epi. '98 LP Plus Top- 8.3 lbs. maho./plain maple/flame maple veneer Epi. '08 LP '56 GoldTop 10.0 lbs. maho/maho. Agile '08 AL-3000 13.7 lbs. maho./3/4" Canadian Flame maple top If it sounds right, play it ! If it sounds wrong, fix it! pohatu771
I thought I posted this earlier, but the Epiphone factory tour has no pictures of any Les Pauls before the top is put on. Before everyone shouts "conspiracy," there are very few pictures. The most in-depth they get is acoustic construction.
pippy
I've read many times over that Epi's use Phillipene "Lauan" in their LP's' date=' which is a much lighter cousin to (and therefore legally called) mahogany.[/quote'] Thanks very much for the sensible reply, Bender! Sounds good to me. Epi is part of Gibson. Carry on pippy..... Thanks Murph. I didn't think it would turn out so controversial!
