Silenced Fred
On my acoustic, my teacher told me that the truss rod is no longer attached to the body (WTF) and just free spins. Does anyone know what could have caused this, and better yet, if it is fixable. I am very depressed right now, my week has been downright awful
Blackie
Overtightening..........have to remove the fret board........and even then it may be a lost cause.........

ksdaddy
Yep, it's a bad thing. The 'other' end of the truss rod can be secured in many ways; sometimes it threads into a square nut embedded into the neck, sometimes it's just crimped and is held in place by God's Grace, sometimes it has a cross pin.... hard to say what's going on. It's popped loose or stripped; either way it's bad. Hate to be a downer but it's major surgery.
Silenced Fred
My teacher said he has a guy that can work magic on stuff like this, so it might be repairable... at least I'm hoping...
