I haven't seen many Melody Maker photos here, so PLEASE let's see 'em!

Here's my 1978 MMD, modded with 2 humbuckers, one of my pics show with only 1 HB and the original single coil in the neck position.

demOOn' date=' I like your MM. Looks SWEEET! I want to get a single cut unit, I had a '59 LP Jr about 15 years ago, but it went away in a divorce. [angry']

What year is it?

Thanks.

Sucks they got rid of the two pup version but if you look on ebay you can find one.

Its a 2006.

Sorry for your divorce...sucks even more when they take a mans guitar.

Wrong, they just aren't posting them...there's quite a few.

Mine is here in my profile pic. Frankenstein, it is. I also have Epiphone olympics. The '65 is a one year only, melody maker body style, but with a few changes that make it an instrument all to itself.

The not-so wide-headstock is part of the reason they are cheaper. The full size headstocks have two pieces of wood shaped and bonded to the neck, and the bodies are slightly thinner, thereby using less wood and less labor. And they use the cheaper single coil pickups. Other than that they are quality Gibson instruments.

About 10 years ago I rebuilt a trashed '64 MM. The headstock decal was intact but the rest was brush painted with white house paint. The only metal on it was the frets and truss rod. WD made me a single layer white guard cut for a humbucker. I found a white Super Distortion and a Schaller fine tuner bridge. I used original Gibson gold screws and strap buttons. I refinished it antique white. What a screaming beast that was. The new owner was deleriously happy with it too.

I am slowly picking away at my project '67 MM SG. I laughed when I saw ksdaddy's comment about the brushed house paint job on his MM. I have stripped most of the white paint from mine. It was white everywhere except the black face of the headstock! Right now I'm figuring out what parts to use and where to get them. I hope to leave avenues open to initially set it up slightly modded, and swap things over to a generally original setup. One pick guard with a couple of pickups I have on hand, a mini humbucker from a '71ish Les Paul Classic and a single coil Strat pickup, and another pick guard with single coil MM pickups or improved replicas. I will also be putting a wraparound bridge like a Badass-style to start out, but I hope to tastefully leave the holes available for a Maestro Vibrola at a future date. It will be either a solid red like it appears to have been originally, or I may go for the Sparkling Burgundy when finally I get it sprayed.

I need to figure out how you post pics like you have, but here are links to some shots:

Here's mine... it's completely stock, and I don't really have any desire to change it.

I would consider doing a finish job, though... I just don't know what colour.

I just played around with TCT Kisekae, and I think I'll do one of the Fender Custom Colors. I think it suits the nature of the guitar.

ksdaddy' date=' that sure is a sweet axe! Why did you get rid of it?[/quote']

Fuzzy memory but that may have been part of a big guitar purge to pay for a J-200.

I'm trying to 'not' sell any more guitars, regardless of how redundant or unused. Seems I always wish I had them back later. I'm a sentimental idiot.
