When somebody says the words "Les Paul tone" to me, THAT is not what I'm thinking of. Page Perry Frehley Frampton Slash ...and so many others never sounded that thin. And neither does NeoConMan when he's shakin' his remote desert compound with the Fender/Marshall A/B rig. I'll give the guy his due as a player, but like I've said, it ain't my cup of tea.
