Silverbursted
Question 1. What kind of amp are you using? Question 2. Why?
Blackie
Does no one know how to turn knobs on an amp anymore ? is the younger generation just taught to ask for everything these days ? Come on now please ..........no one can tell you what settings to put some unknown or known amp on to get a certain tone that you hear.
sgbass
Blackie is right. You aren't gonna break the amp or guitar by turning the control settings. You may find something called your own sound.
FirstMeasure
I'd start with the clean channel on your Amp. Turn all the EQ knobs up, then start backing off some of the mids, treble and bass accordingly. If that doesn't do it, turn the gain all the way down on your Dirty Channel, then turn the EQ knobs all the way up, then touch the gain up to about 1, then back off the Mids, Treble and Bass accordingly. sgbass
Sorry about being a bit harsh. But come on. The amps today have more settings and trinkets on them then 1967 amps did. Guitar amps had volume, treble, bass, and some had reverb, and tremolo. Don't be afraid to use the stuff on the amps. A fuzz box, and a wah pedal was about it for extra sounds.
