NeoConMan Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 When I was growing up in SW Kansas during the seventies we had no FM rock stations. The only rock radio we could get was on the AM band at night - if the weather allowed it. WLS out of Chicago or KOMA out of Oklahoma City - that's it!

When I grew up, Marconi hadn't invented radio yet, (I'm pretty sure Milo did a photo shoot of his first broadcast!!)
cookieman15061 Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 Yeah at night you could hear these great little rockers right along side some great RnB stuff and Motown.
cookieman15061 Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 Mark Farner was one bada** frontman.
milod Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Rob... Nope, I missed the first broadcast and most subsequent ones... I did get a 4x5 in 1899 of them reporting on the America's Cup races in New York. m
Twelvebar Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Something to be said for the wide variety of music on the stations back then. '77 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRK2o3EkOUw
