AS90
My Showcase is the first guitar I have owned with EMGs. My question is, how do you know when the battery is dead? Do the pick-ups just stop working completely or do they just loose the extra power?
rjay777
When the battery's fading out you'll notice some volume decay or maybe slight buzz. But don't worry about having to change them often. They'll last a long time without the p'up losing any performance, but make sure you unplug the guitar jack when you're done with it.

led floyd9
why do EMGs have to have batteries?and how do you replace them? All electric guitar pickups are magnets that are used to pick up (hence the name "pickup") string vibrations and send them through the amplifier's speakers and make a sound out of it. EMG's (Electro-Magnetic Generator) have magnets just like any other pickup, except EMG's magnets use electric charges to create a magnetic field to pick-up the sound from the string vibration and send it through the amplifier. EMG's use batteries to create these electrical charges. That is why EMG's have to have batteries.
