heymisterk
Hi All, I asked this question in a recent thread about fret life, but I think it got lost in the mix. Just a simple question: I THINK I need new frets on my acoustic - twenty years of play - but I am not sure. So, how does one know when a refret is needed? What are the symptoms? Thanks! AXE®
Fretting out. Excessive fret buzz Un level frets ect'. I use a certified straight edge and run them across the frets.
heymisterk
Thanks, Axe! Is one symptom having to press harder to form chords? The second position Bm bar chord is a real b*tch lately.
AXE®
Highly unlikely. Probably has too much relief.
KL
A lot of people look at their frets and see wear on them and think this means they need a refret. It does not. However, the signs AXE has listed above may mean a refret is needed.
