Prospero Posted March 15, 2008 Share Posted March 15, 2008 The earlier thread on tuning, coupled with the absence of my wife and kids all day today, resulted in me playing around with open tunings all day long. I've just spent hours noodling in open G and open C (as a beginner, I've limited myself to Standard Tuning mostly.) So, I'm wondering, what's your tuning? What do you prefer to play in? hoobiepatrol Posted March 15, 2008 Share Posted March 15, 2008 I usually have one guitar in open D in case i feel like doing a little slide work, but 98% of the time I play in standard. I never bother with half-step down, since I almost never play along with records. I'm so lazy about changing tunings that I've spent time finding ways to play alternate tunes in standard, either by transposing segments or making really weird chord fingerings. I also occaisionally do mess around tuning. which is changing only one or two strings just for the heckovit.. to produce drones or slight 12 string or other effects.
