Geetar_Axl
Hey guys, Just going through some photos and noticed Burbon Burst (the new name for Brock Burst) looks the same as a Faded Tobacco Burst? Has anyone got some photos of the two guitars? Thanks!
Custom Admin
bourbonburst should have more of a reddish tint, but the colors are similar. and everything is mixed and sprayed by hand here, so this can lead to variations in the colors too.
Geetar_Axl
Also do most Custom shop guitars use AA or AAA Maples?

Custom Admin
Also do most Custom shop guitars use AA or AAA Maples? we haven't used "A" grading on tops in several years.

Geetar_Axl
So you dont even use AA tops? But doesnt that mean that the USA Production guitars have better tops then? Also do you still make one piece tops?
Geetar_Axl
So what type of grading is the wood?
Custom Admin
to make myself clear, we do use an internal grading system, but we no longer market our tops as "A", "AAA" or whatever. basically tops are either plain, figured, or quilt as far as our marketing is concerned. Geetar_Axl
Ok thank you, also do you still make one piece tops?

Geetar_Axl
Also I was looking around and I know youve told me before that they make a Burborn Burst R9, but Ive hear there is a VOS finish and Normal, when a guitar is listed as "....1959 VOS" does that mean the finish is that aged one? Can you get a R8-0 in the 2 different finishes? Aged and New?
Custom Admin
yes, VOS refers to the lightly aged look of the finish and hardware. ALL Historic LPs are available with VOS or glossy finish.
LPCollector
Here is a picture of the difference between Tobacco (top) and Brock/Bourbon Burst (bottom). Sorry about the crappy photography....this is a pic from last year before I learned to shoot guitars: Here is Washed Cherry for comparison:
