lpdeluxe
Does anyone use flatwounds on their Sheraton? I'm thinking about a set for mine to tame some of the brightness.
Ron G
They would "tame the brightness". I used to use them a long time ago and will probably try a set soon.
Brian Cecil
I've used T-I George Benson 12's on my Sherry for the past several years. Great strings.

lpdeluxe
Guess I'll order some Thomastik-Infelds then. I've been using their Jazz Flats exclusively on my Fender basses and they are the business.
charlie brown
I could see using flat wounds, on certain guitars. Not on ALL of them, but ones you wanted a mellower, "Jazzier" tone, sure! And, T-I's Jazz Flats Are great, lpdeluxe. CB
dbirchett
LP, you might want to try some D'Addario Half Wounds. That's what I use on my Bigsby-equipped Guild. They start with a regular round wound string and then either grind off the outer semicircle or compress it to flatten it. That reduces the brightness somewhat but not as much as the flatwounds. It also reduces string noise and helps with Bigsy tuning stability. http://www.daddario.com/DADProducts.aspx?ID=1&CLASS=AACA
