Personally, I don't feel that they're as nice as Fenders in the same price range, but it's still a nice guitar. There will be a difference between the Gibson and Epiphone. Frankly, though, if you're asking here what the difference is, you won't be able to tell. I can't tell, based on sound, only by how they feel. There's also the Epiphone Elitist Les Paul Custom...
