custer
Can anyone tell me how much work is involved in installing a Bigsby on a Dot. I'm hoping I can do it myself.
Mr. E
Can anyone tell me how much work is involved in installing a Bigsby on a Dot. I'm hoping I can do it myself. there are some videos on youtube that could help alot. from what i've seen it seems pretty easy and only a small amount of simple tools are needed. RotcanX
It's basically a simple matter of removing the stop tailpiece bolts and screwing on the Bigsby. The only tricky part is centering it nicely so that the strings are nice and straight over the bridge. The luthier trick is to use a broken elastic band to check your alignment over the bridge and nut and once it's even on both sides (high E and low E), screw her down. dbirchett
I put one on my Sheraton. Here is the report I made at the time. http://forums.epiphone.com/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=3790 Go through it. There are youtube videos on installing the B7, B70 and B700. Watch them all and get the procedure clearly in mind before you start off on it. One trap is that your bottom strap button is probably not centered and may have to be remarked. In any event, its not too difficult to find center to redrill it. Good luck, ask questions and let us know how it went.
