TheX
I had to add the Grover keystone tuners. The original tuners worked fine but I wanted the green keystones. The other mod is the Valve Jr. amp. The two sound fantastic together all by themselves. This is a true Epi combo.
TWANG
those tuners look pretty slick on the goldtop. and the combo beside it.. very nice! next time you need tubes. make sure you try this: JJEL84 and any decent 5751 instead of the 12ax7.. only about ten bucks and I'd bet you like the 5751.. I know the JJ EL84 is great!
dubstar
those tuners look great, how much and di they drop right in? I'd like to do the same with my ebony elitist pictured in the les paul thread...
TheX
I had to drill an extra hole for each and they were 45 bucks plus shipping at Stewmac. GREAT quality tuners though. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guitar,_solid_peghead_tuners/Grover_Deluxe_Keystones.html
dubstar
the little screw hole? that's OK...no problem with the width of actual tuner post holes then? looks mighty fine...
RotcanX
Actually you don't have to drill the second hole, since most of the support work is done by the ferrule nut. One screw is more than enough to keep the tuners from rotating. I put a similar set on my '78 SG many, many years ago and I never bothered with the second screws. They would absolutely work with just one. These tuners surpassed my expectations for smoothness and build quality. The price is beyond fair.
