TWANG
used a small piece of chrome guard material.. half circle.. mirror finish really is what it is.. I thought I might make it thinner, but if you take off the back side, you lose the mirror. Still, I thought shiny chrome/mirror would look best. opinions.. before I go through the hassle of making a tiny piece for the other side..! Whitmore Willy
TWANG, I had to look at the pictures on you're last thread to make sure it was not part of the bigsby. I know how hard you have been working on this the last few days. In my opinion, well done. I think it looks great. (must be a pain cutting the guard material that close.) TWANG
Thanks.. I may not keep it. the thing that bugs me is that when you're wearing the guitar. the edge of the piece is just plastic looking. I'm gonna fabricate a piece of aluminum and see if I can buff it up nice.. If that doesn't work I'll probably keep this though. I dremelled most of it.. just about took my thumb off. *G* TWANG
stan 58
I used a piece of MOTS and it looked good, i also was going to use a tortoise pick, and cut a circle out of it. I think the mirror looks good to. Stan.
TWANG
yeah.. a different color might be nice.. the thing is you can't make the mirror stuff thinner.. if you take off the top. it's no longer clear.. if you take off the bottom, it's no longer mirror.. but I've got some pearl white.. and some tortoise.. black. brown.. even snakeskin. *G* and the aluminum too.. so I'll find the right one. the only thing is looking at it while wearing it, you see the edge of the plastic piece pretty clearly. man am I being picky or what? stan 58
I think with the right material it would lay flush with the top. Stan.
