Epiphone Sheraton II in manufacturing problems?

Anyone heard any news about this model? Is it totally gone or will there be some poor chinese version of Sheraton II?

Natural finish Sheraton IIs are still being made, but you are quite correct - they are now being manufactured in China.

There is an excellent online dealer here in the US called Sweetwater. They photograph every instrument they sell. You can see detailed photographs of a modern Chinese Sheraton II here:

In my opinion, these new Chinese Sheratons are inferior to the old Unsung (Korea) built Sheratons.

Holly crap this http://www.sweetwater.com/guitargallery/electric/all/s08121500686/ VS looks ugly to me + it is made in China. I think Korean guitars are much better than Chinese one... =D>

Well I have to cancel my order and buy used one because I don't want this ugly guitar + Made In China for the same price where I can get Korean one.

Wow, just looking at the pics it doesn't look anywhere near as nice as the Korean ones. Just look at the neck, no stripe lamination in there (walnut?), the headstock is a separate piece of wood with a scarf joint. The maple top has no character... It just looks like they cut corner after corner and have taken away what made the Sheratons so great.

Well I'll be damned...Mines from unsung in 2006. U06040943. So it's Korean. ...Thought it was Chinese all this time. It was definitely a diamond in the rough when I recieved it just the same...was already planning mods though before it was delivered, so just had the unexpected issues fixed then too and didn't worry too much about it.

I only checked because my Sherri has a very nice finish-that one depicted from Sweetwater looks horrible! Wow! Not too good. Glad I jumped when I did too!

I work in Glasgow and Guitar Guitar have Sheratons in stock (all three finishes).

Last time I called them the guy told me they have only few naturals and he coudn't say when will they recieve rome VS ones.

Update: Today I emailed them and I got the answer 'we are currently sold out across all stores'. :-#

Thanks for this and this is the place where from I bought my Sheraton II. Yes I got it now so thanks to everyone for the help. I got it for 650€ including Epiphone hard case, shipping insurance and shipping cost to Finland. It is not so cheap but I wanted new Sheraton II made in Korea. :)

Next project is to replace poor stock pickups with Gibson's '57 Classics and to replace stock saddle with the one made in the local guitar workshop.
