Hey everyone, I have the chance to get this les paul for 350$ canadian.

What do you think? it will be my second guitar after the bad first purchase being the epiphone japanese import you see as my avatar pic.

Thanks guy....greatly appreciated

I would presume that this is a Mansfield Les Paul.

I am getting the guitar from craigslist and that is what he named it.

He & I might be wrong. I dont know.... is the price good though if the guitar is in great condition...would you recommend?

I am into spacy, shoegaze, post rock progressive ambient ...delay type music...

thanks

Mansfields were Japanese giutars made in the pre-lawsuit 70's. They were primarily sold in Canada through Mom & Pop shops and department stores like Eaton's and Sears. Supposedly there is some sort of Hoshino-Gakki/Ibanez relationship with the Mansfileld name. More recent Mansfields are not supposed to be anything special and are OEM'd by several manufacturers.

Is this guitar a bolt-on neck? If so, it seems awfully pricy to me. Then again, if this is from the 70's you're talking a certain vintage aspect to what was supposed to be a good guitar and one of the big contributors to the "lawsuit" years at Gibson. I have no idea where Epiphone would come into any of this.

It is actually a Set-in Neck !

the guy said it was retail 480$ canadian plus tax

2 questions.

Is this set in neck les paul worth 350.?

and second is this purchase better than buying an epiphone dot studio for 399 plus tax?

thanks

yes I still have it....

some guys suggested the Dot studio instead of fixing up my avatar guitar.

Couple knobs dont work...

bridge shifts too much

strings are way to elevated towards the body.

goes out of tune easily.

just wanted to move away from japanese....

so you say no go for this mansfield set in neck les paul for 350 canadian tax in?

thanks man

Well' date=' according to the Yahoo Currency Converter, C$350 = US$275 today, so you're not spending a fortune. I don't [i']think[/i] you're paying too much for the Les Paul (provided it is a viable guitar).

You mentioned in an earlier post that you are quite new to playing guitar. The Dot Studio should be an easy guitar to set up and play.

Alternatively....:-$

If you're looking to save some money, then take a look at Agiles. Most people seem to find a lot to praise about these:
