This one originally came out before the 62 Custom Historic Version that's made in america and limited to 100 models and a price tag to match.

The one you're looking at is based on a later model with Batwing headstock and the long pick guard rather than the more symetrical 'coronet' one and are made in China, set neck as well which is better than the Japanese 70s models which had Bolt on necks.

I almost bought one the other day but too many other guitars got in the way. I think they'll be cracking little players, even if a little work had to be done but you can't tell until you get it!

I only just realised what you meant by re-reissue with the mini humbuckers as the one i was going to buy was the full sized humbuckers that you were obviously referring to in the re-reissue comment.

Apologies!

No problem! Especially after posting those pics, I haven't seen those before. Very informative.

I had one of those cheap reissues with fullsize humbuckers. Nice red one. I paid 177 euros for it plus shipping, which was around 20 euros. A real sweet deal, and there was some confusion with my order so the store forgot to bill me for a hard case (or then they just thought it would be a cool gesture). Sold that guitar for profit a couple months later. That always bugged me a bit (not selling it for profit, just selling it in general). I think I got to get one of these. Good thing is that there'll be money to spend on getting it set up right by a pro. I also like the fact that the finish is "worn"... not because of looks, but because it usually means the finish is thinner.

Yeah I think a thinner finish would be much better than the 'dipped in plastic' feel of some of the full on finishes. I hate selling guitars as well and up until about a year ago refused to sell any of my guitars but then i realised that I had 2-3 guitars lying about that I never played and have slowly started weed out the non-players for my colection to slowly upgrade some guitars and get ones that will actually come out of the case!

that red one from the original post....

i thought the ones that were sold through january were the reissues..

the white ones with full humbuckers and batwing headstock

they have it available in worn cherry?

ive only seen the all white ones that were sold last year through this jan/feb'09

they had epiphone custom shop stamped in gold on the back of the batwing... a friend has one.

does this mean if they resume production that they will not be stamped as limited edition?

ahhh im confused! O:)

so... the white ones were like a anniversary celebration... or like all "hey look Im backk!!!"???

a literal limited production...

and these minihumbuckered beauties have aged finishes and are not yet available?

i ordered a wilshire early feb and MF was sold out till april they said but my order is still pending... does this mean i could end up getting the mini humbuckered version?

or will I have to settle with the very very very bright white one (assuming they put it back in production as a regular product)

?

im still confused... i just know my order is pending....

I don't think the original white ones are any different from the red one with full sized hubuckers. I don't see any custom shop on the headstock unless it's one of the round epiphone seals on the back. The ones with the mini humbuckers look like a future release for sometime this year. You should ask them what product it is you've ordered and in what finish etc.

yeah that gold seal

so, the red and white ones were released together? but only the whites were available through MF or something?

catalogues only showed white...

hmm.... i think calling would be a good decision lol

Red ones are available through regular authorized Epiphone dealers, and White ones through musician friend and I thought Guitar Center had some on their site at one time. The Mini Humbucker model will defintely be on my wish list if it becomes available

They've got pics and specs for a new Wilshire, a new model called an Emperor Swingstar and a limited edition Casino with USA pick ups. None of these have been released yet so I'm only assuming they're new models for 2009. I've emailed Thomann (who are normally very reliable) and they said these models will be available sometime this year.

Thomann are pricing the wilshire at £250.00

No problem. Looks like these new ones will have a thinner finish too which can only be a good thing if the recent chinese finishes are anything to go by! I quite fancy a cherry one and a black one and at £250 a pop you can't go wrong can you?
