Lord Summerisle
I was having a quick browse at Sweetwater, mainly out of curiosity about the new Inspired-By Casinos. But then I noticed that they have 2 Valensi Rivieras in stock. If I had not banned myself from buying any more guitars, I'd be seriously interested in one of these. Korean-made (by Unsung?) with the Gibson P94 pickups. They look wonderful. I suspect that in years to come, I'll end up thinking about this model as "the Epiphone arch-top I wish I'd bought." Here's the link and a couple of photos. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ETRVANCH I'm not a big Strokes / Valensi fan...but I think I could be a big fan of this Riviera. A new TRC with an Epiphone "e" would remove the signature connotations... But I will have to (reluctantly) let this one pass. Thought I'd let you guys know that they're out there, however. brianh
You are trying to kill me, aren't you. I'm going to have to get a second job to fund this habit...
Red 333
I always kick myself that I was never able to snag the Elitist version when they were out. The Korean ones look nice, too, though. I wonder how similar or different the P94s sound from the P90s in the Riv P94? Red
jamie-t
I just got one of these a couple weeks ago and it's amazing. It was perfectly set up when I got it, too perfect in fact, I had to raise the action a bit. As far as the P94s compared to P90s, I have a Gibson LP special doublecut with 90s in it and the Riviera just sounds smoother and when I want it to break up it just sounds a little more lush than the P90s. It's by far the best semi-hollow with single coils I've ever played. edit - Also I think the finishes vary a little bit, mine doesn't look near as orange as the one posted (thank god). The top and back have a nice quilt in the wood, and isn't that orange-ish color either, just a nice vintage tint. I think those ones at Sweetwater have a factory code of '21' where mine is '22'. I'm wondering if mine was made at Peerless. Congrats on yours. Cheers

I didn't find out until after I'd taken her home, and then didn't care, because nobody else knows who he is either! I just loved the look, feel and sound of her. This one's a keeper. 20 years from now people will being saying, "Valensi, that's a town in Italy, right?" Cheers
