jonny_2_owls
I paid £650 for mine about 4 years ago. It the same as the one that just ended on ebay but with the Wine Red finish. I love it. I put Gibson Classic 57's in it and added a bigsby. Sounds awesome!
john_calver
Sounds like my perfect guitar apart from the Bigsby. If anyone wants to sell theirs drop me a message, maybe we can work something out
jonny_2_owls
John, there's another 80's Japanese Riviera gone on ebay today. The listing says it could be a 70's one but it is identical (before I added my bigsby) to mine which is an '84. I think the serial number makes it an '84 too. Sounds like it's been listed because of the price that last one reached, they are great guitars though. I'm looking for a 12 string riviera if anyone has one for sale?? john_calver
Jonny!! Well spotted! Let's see if I win this one, if not I'm single handedly driving up the price of matsumoko rivieras! Thank you
jonny_2_owls
Well good luck with it! I hope you win it! Does it have to be a Riviera? Because there is an early 80's Sheraton on ebay too, on a BuyItNow, I think the seller is called Yamaha guitar. I used to have one of these Sheratons, it was very nice but the neck was too skinny for me. I also used to have a couple of similar era Casinos, really regret seling them now. john_calver
I love rivieras, sheratons don't really do it for me, did have a casino once, wish I'd kept it but was young and sold it on way too quickly. It used to feedback loads at band practices. Looking back it would have been nice to keep at home.

[/quote'] John I used to have three early 80`s Casino`s, one from 82 and two from 83, and got rid of all of them, once I got my Lennon 65 reissue! I was mad, and miss them so much. The Wine Red one on the right is now with a mate, and I am hatching a plan to get it back!

Ah they're beautiful, my 3 early 80's casinos were just like two of those! Two wine red ones (one with a bigsby) and an antique sunburst! I really wish I still had just one of them, I sold them off one by one after getting an elitist casino which I also eventually and rather stupidly sold. I'm waiting to see what those Inspired By Lennon Casinos are like as I'm really wanting one again. anyway back to the thread, have you seen how that Riviera on ebay's gone up? £300 in a day! Call me a cynic but it almost seems like someones bidding it up!
john_calver
Does seem that way but I've little option right now. If I get it I can hopefully finish my pursuit and laugh at how much others go for
jonny_2_owls
Are you the leading bidder on the Riviera on Ebay? Have you seen the one on the Buy It Now for £800? The newly listed one has the correct bridge, original case and no holes after the tailpiece. I'm sure you'll have seen it but I thought I'd let you know. If you're out bid it's always a backup! Good luck, I hope you get one as they're fantastic guitars!

bbbacres
I'm desperately seeking a Japanese Epiphone Riviera like the 80's on Noel Gallagher and Bonehead used to play.. Does anyone know where I can find one or have one they would sell? So John, three years later. Did you ever find yourself and Epiphone 280 (Japanese)? I decided to sell mine. bbbacres @ hotmail.com (remove spaces).
