Hanwood
Hi, I've recently been offered a secondhand Epiphone Dot EB. I've only had a quick chance to look it over but may go back for a second view. I was informed that it is US built. A quick trawl of the internet suggests that these guitars are almost entirely produced in Asia. Can anyone fill in my gap in knowledge? And, frankly...does it make any difference is it is US or Asian built? Thanks for any help. I forgot to make a note of the serial number but I'll get it next time! Cheers Richard
brianh
The only "Dots" that I know of that are made in the US are Gibson ES-335. Since the 70's everything Epi has made comes from Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and now mostly from China. There are a few exceptions (e.g. 1965 Casinos) where final assembly is done in the US, but the body & neck is made overseas.

wiggy
Might be the buyer is misconstruing the US QA sticker for made in the US?

jonnyg
And' date=' frankly...does it make any difference is it is US or Asian built? Thanks for any help.[/quote']Well, a USA made Epiphone is going to be priced in thousands and an Asian Epiphone is going to be priced in hundreds or less. If you don't mind paying thousands for something that's worth hundreds, no it doesn't matter at all.
Hanwood
A big thanks to everyone who has contributed to this. As you can imagine, I think I shall politely decline this particular guitar and equally politely educate the seller. Thanks again Hanwood
