-Yep. Too many people jump to replace things without tweaking the settings first. The reason I replaced my p'ups wasn't because I thought they didn't sound good' date=' but because I wanted a more vintage Les Paul tone. Congrats...

Agreed, same story here. Once you do a decent setup including pickup height the epi pups sound pretty good. Changing the pots, caps, and wiring can also improve matters.

Congratulations! It's all in the little things man. After you do it enough you will be able to sculpt your instrument to play and sound however you want. Play it over the next few days, then ask yourself what would you do to improve the tone. Think about it hard, and adjust your setup to reflect that. Then really pay attention to the change you made, its an art unto itself, and if you get good at it you can make a good living just doing setups, or at least every guitar you ever own for the rest of your life will always be a dream to play on.
