The_Buffalo
Just bought a new 2006 MIK ES-135 - (pictures to follow). Does anyone know anything about these guitars? I seem to remember reading somewhere that they put real Gibson MIA pickups in them, although I could be mistaken.
The_Buffalo
...they put real Gibson MIA pickups in them... Or maybe not - just read somewhere else, that they are indeed Epiphone pickups.
Hungrycat
135...;) That's a 175 body with a block like a 335, right?
mdb0874
I have a 335, not sure what kind of pickups are in it, Epiphone obviously, not sure of what kind. I'd imagine the same as what you have. They sound very good to me, so I'm am not going to waste money on new ones, plus this thing looks like a real bugger to mess with, being there are no covers to open it up, so I'm glad they are, in fact, good stock pickups. I just set mine up today, can't believe I never took off the rings just to see ;) They sound great, that's all that matters. I still have the stock bridge pickup from my old G-400 kicking around. It says HOT-LP underneath.

Hungrycat
Almost.... 335 body and block' date=' with a 175 shape...[/quote'] So it's a thin-line like a 335?
smips65
So it's a thin-line like a 335? Yup, thicker than a Sorento, like a casino, sheri, dot, and 335, might be a tad thicker, but no where near as thick as a 175. Gibson had the 135, then changed it to a 137 with a "C" at the 12th fret, epi 135 are copies. Blue Burst seems to be the most common item I see for sale on evil-bay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Gibson-ES137-ES-137-Classic-Blue-Flame-Gold-Hardware_W0QQitemZ160418172091QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item2559ab0cbb
Red 333
Unlike the Gibson ES335 or Epiphone Dot, which have maple center blocks, the Epiphone ES 135 has a chromyte center block, like a Gibson Howard Robert's Fusion model. Red
Hungrycat
chromyte center block Isn't that Gibson's name for Balsa? How's it hold the stop-bar?
Hungrycat
It has a trapeze-tailpiece. Oh, OK. I just assumed. The Gibson has a stop-bar.
Sjael
Isn't that Gibson's name for Balsa? How's it hold the stop-bar? I thought the same thing after routing for the selector switches on my strat with a flat-head screwdriver. Still holds those trem screws a lot better than I expected.
