Need your opinions on this IBJL Casino....

As some of you might remember, I got myself an IBJL Revolution Casino a little while back but there was a problem with the finish on it so, I've been waiting for a replacement to come in so I can exchange it. A replacement has come in with a better finish on the body but the neck looks quite a bit different. Whereas the original had a very uniform texture, this one has a striped look to it, kind of like a tiger. Depending on the angle you look at it from, it has almost a 3D effect like a hologram. I guess this is due to the wood grain rather than manufacturing flaw but I'm not 100% sure.

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out if I should just keep this one now or try for one more exchange. In a way it seems kind of cool and sort give it a unique personality but I'm not sure it's ultimately the right thing. I have not had time to get a good photo of it but I have attached one from the website it was on. By the way, you can see this came from Sweetwater and I just want to say these guys are awesome when it comes to customer service. They really go above and beyond most others to make sure you're happy.

Thanks...

It's hard to see in that picture, but the striping looks like wood grain "flame" to me.

That's usually a desirable thing.

I wonder why they went with a dark stain on the naturals.

Perhaps it's a cost thing - easier to make the necks the same color for both finishes....

Looks good to me, just a bit of flame in the grain. The neck on my Les Paul has a similar thing going on, but not quite as pronounced as it's mahogany, whereas the neck on a Casino is Maple is it not?

Yes its supposed to look like John's and thats the color of his neck.

I was all geared up to argue this, after watching the last track on the Live Peace in Toronto dvd where John swings his guitar around generating feedback, but after another look at the rooftop concert, it looks as if that Casino had the darker back of the neck. . .
