sternfan
I recently purchased a J-185 EC and I'm wondering if she can take mediums (13-56). Also, for those of you who own one, which strings have you settled with? I have now tried a set of Martins and a set of Newtones (both 12-54, 80/20 PB's). The Martins had great projection but unfortunately were dead within a week and a half. The Newtones lack the Martins' liveliness but they have been played more in the past two weeks than the Martins but there's no sign of deterioration. Would love to hear of your experiences. Gilliangirl
Hiya Stern! Oh my, you'll get a multitude of preferences stated here but, yes, your guitar can most definitely withstand mediums and I use Elixir mediums on mine. Sounds divine! EuroAussie
Im a huge fan of DR Sunbeams, but also like a lot the Gibson Masterbuild PB's. In both cases I use the lights. Give the DR Sunbeams a go as they have a great warm tone right from the first strum, are more flexible that other strings and last a long, long time for uncoated strings. cheers. bkharmony
It can handle mediums no problem, so use whichever you like best.
