Or, a lead to where I can get a template for one? The new Special II GT has a pickguard, but Gibson/Epiphone does not sell them aftermarket.... animalfarm Posted September 2, 2010 Share Posted September 2, 2010 What others have done is to take an Epi LP pickguard, then "cut a round hole" in the PG where the Vol knob shaft can come thru, then mount it FLAT on the Git. The VOl knob will cover the hole you created. You'll just have to "pre-fit", then carefully make the hole - just involves a little creativity... The really CLEAR pic of this is "lost" in the unreachable archives of the old EPi forum, so this is the best I can do, but you'll get the Idea: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

What are the measurements between YOUR pups? Remember, it doesn't have to be EXACT, and may require a little creativity. I think I found the right pickguard to sand down/trim to fit: All Parts "Black Pickguard for Les Paul". The numbers I see are 713/466-6414 and PG 0800-033. I hope this helps someone some day! They ought to put 'em on the Specials to begin with. Now, to install new tuners... these guys just don't keep it in tune well enough. My work is never done! But then they would have to retool the knob placement and charge more for the guard and installation. Oh well. Customizing is fun!
