Your choice

Silenced Fred

I use both amp models (I know, not exactly the same thing, but I'm not rich enough to own every amp I'd like to.) but I have an emotional connection to the rich clean sound of a Fender Twin. I tend to use the Vox for dirtier sounds.

Old stuff?

Hmmm...

Always wanted an old AC-30.

Same with a couple other notable British amps of yesteryear.

Aside from Marshall, I've never played through 'em much though...

Until I do, and change my mind for some reason, Fender is my choice.

Hot Rod DeVille has no equal for the price.

Got a mid-seventies Quad Reverb, kinda liking it.

Always wanted a Bassman.

New stuff?

Fender is made in Mexico, I try not to think about it.

Great stuff, I just hate the idea behind foreign (cheap) manufacturing.

Still, many good American components are used along with the assortment of Chinese parts.

Vox?

Made in China?

No fxxking way.

End of story.

But that's just me...

In the 60s up to early 70s my only amp for about any kinda music was a DR.

I foolishly swapped it for a big AIMS Dual 12 - kinda a Twin on steroids. Excellent amp but it weighs way too much and I've never come close to needing the power.

My old DR was just about perfect, I think, for a tube amp. The only think I think that could make it better and more "modern" would be a line out that I wouldn't have to worry would burn out some of the wiring.

I played on a Vox 15 watter Monday night when I made the long drive to a guitar store. Not bad at all, but not in the league with the DR - but that's a horribly unfair comparison regardless.
