onewilyfool
This one is about double Blue book.....(Vintage Guitar has them at $1500-1750) But you gotta admire his spunk!!! It's worth a try, perhaps someone will try to trade some magical beans for this guitar...... http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/msg/1947647557.html Honorable Mention: Note the VERY RARE tag (funny how two 'very rare' guitars are for sale at the same time....lol...)(Gryphon has identical guitar for $1695, blue book is $1500 -1750) http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/msg/1946769772.html Gryphon's guitar: http://www.gryphonstrings.com/instpix/34494/34494.php

albertjohn
Never seen one with the soundhole label not central. Is that common? I love that red J185!
rar
Never seen one with the soundhole label not central. Is that common? That's standard for the early days in Bozeman. -- Bob R

albertjohn
.......Note, these guitar have laminate back and sides..... http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/msg/1951425864.html Is that right? The link is a natural J185 cutaway. I thought Gibson never did laminate back and sides. I played the most gorgeous J185 12 last year at the Gibson Showroom. It was red but more like a deep redish/purple, not the cherry or wine red of the one earlier in the thread. I wish I'd taken a photo as I've never seen that colour since. Jinder has played it too and thought it may have been a special order or experimental colour. Who knows. It sounded equally as good as it looked too. A J185 in red does it for me visually. Dotneck
Note, these guitar have laminate back and sides..... I know Gibson used laminate back and sides on the jazz boxes...didn't know they used them on their flat tops. Are you saying all the maple 185s have lam back & sides or just certain ones?
