eor
anyone know where i can find one? i tried one of ebay and it was too small. the usa gibson one kinda fit, but is clearly smaller than the stock one. has to be cream. they stuck white on the thing and it bothers me. maybe someone out there replaced their (invariably) faulty switch and has one they don't need anymore? i'd happy toss a few bucks your way if it fit. also, are there any blank truss rod covers that work? i hate that it actually says "elitist" on there. heh. not doing so well with the elitist upgrades. despite the gibson usa assertions, neither gibson knobs or switch tips work. i had to replace my knobs with metric sized ones, and i tried that with the switch tip, to no avail. and lastly, if anyone needs a cream metric switch or some gibson usa tophats with gold inserts, let me know. both are in "failed to use" condition. USA switch tips made for Switchcraft should work, as the Elitist series stuff has generally used Switchcraft switches and jacks. Gibson has historically used the classic short tip as well as a slightly taller tip, although in my experience they are only making the short ones at the moment, by demand. I don't think I know anyone who has requested the taller one, it is too easy to accidentally hit. Plus, the short ones look nicer. If you want a tall one, you'll have to take one of the cheap asian tall tips and empty it out a bit with a screwdriver or a knife. I have a screwdriver that I use for polepiece adjustment, which I used in a pinch to put a tip on one of my switchcraft switches. Just hollow the tip out a bit more till you can just screw it on. Then go out and buy one made for USA components. Interesting note about the knobs. I remember a thread a while back about a guy who was shocked to find alpha pots in his Elitist Casino. I think that Epi makes the Elitist with Switchcraft jacks and switches but leaves the alpha pots and wiring. I guess that the Gibson pups and switchcraft stuff was enough. Anyways, that would be consistent with your story, and metric knobs should work fine. Your jack is probably switchcraft and will not fail. It might be worth it to pop it out and take a look. If it says switchcraft, then you'll know. Trussrod covers are all over the internet and eb@y. Just search it up. If you want a really, really nice vintage-looking one, contact forum member Frenchie. AS90
Stick the white one in some coffee paste (a drop of water and lots of coffee) for a few days.

He did mine: That's a fine looking guitar bynapkinart. Is that a Gibson pickguard? Like from a 330 or something? Also what kind of pickups? Looks great. bynapkinart
That's a fine looking guitar bynapkinart. Is that a Gibson pickguard? Like from a 330 or something? Also what kind of pickups? Looks great. Thanks!! It is actually a custom pickguard done by TWANG, another forum member. He did a great job and communicated great to get it to fit perfectly. The pickups are actually the stock Epiphone...kind of. I cut off the chrome covers and decided to try my hand at unwinding the pickups a bit. Messy, but it turned out great! I just replaced the covers with black plastic, which sounds leaps and bounds better than the chrome (the chrome always sounded muddy and dull to me). Also, I like the Cherry/Black combo...always have! I'm thinking about popping a GFS P90 in the neck for kicks, but beyond that it is all modded to completion. Hmmm...I replaced the switch tip on my Elitist 335 with a cream Gibson tip and it worked fine. I don't recall if the original white one was larger but the Gibson tip looks good and is the same size as the one on my Elitist Casino. I agree that white tip just doesn't look right with the aged binding.

Wow, he did a great job on the pickguard! I agree, the cherry and black combo is awesome. I'm going to be getting a Casino soon so that's why I was asking about the pups. Do the chrome covers really make the P-90's sound muddy? I had that problem with my Epi LP pups, but I figured the P-90s would be different. I've been thinking about ordering some "better" P-90s when I get my Casino, but I'm pretty much a newb at modding and I don't think a hollow body is the best place for me to start!! I've been thinking about ordering some "better" P-90s when I get my Casino, but I'm pretty much a newb at modding and I don't think a hollow body is the best place for me to start!! Well the stock P90s are fantastic, just fyi. I liked them before I did the chrome to plastic conversion, too, I just had to crank the treble on my amp. They were very one dimensional, and they didn't really have the P90 punch I was expecting them too. With the chrome covers on, and the hollowbody construction, you end up losing all that chimey high end that you would expect out of a Casino. With the plastic covers, though, you get that high end back, along with a fuller low end and bright mids. With the plastic they just sound so much fuller and stronger, with more chime. Modding is a pain though and it took forever to get it to where it is right now. Along with the plastic stuff and the TRC I put Kluson tuners on it (which are now Grover Super Rotomatics), vintage trapeze bridge, CTS and Switchcraft electronics and Mojo caps, TUSQ nut and saddles...took a while but now I have a guitar that I hopefully will love for the rest of my life. I know that now I'm constantly disappointed by anything else, at least. Apparently an amazing, thoroughly self-modified number 1 guitar is a GAS cure. Well, it delays the symptoms. Kind of. Now I just drool over amps.
