Vibrola on Casino?

Hey, new to the forum,

I've recently come across some funds and am trying to upgrade my casino (tuners bridge pickups etc;etc)

I've been searching around and have come around a vibrola vibrato

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=400042998533&Category=41407&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D1#ht_720wt_1141

Do you think this would fit on a casino, you have to forgive my installing knowledge just trying to start :)

Also, would anyone know if gold pickup covers are avail for the P90's

Thanks!

Those are typically used on SG's. Not sure if it would fit a Casino or not. You probably want to go with a Bigsby. (B7 or B70).

I was wondering the same thing about the gold P90 covers a while back, but I can't find anyone that makes them. The only ones I've seen are chrome, and black or white plastic.

I looked high and low for gold metal covers for dog ear p90s, I couldn't find any. There are some off brand pickups available in gold, but the pole spacing didn't match and buying a complete pickup (and more than likely cheesey ones, too) for just the covers seemed stupid. The best idea that I could come up with was getting chrome ones and having them gold plated. The reason I didn't wasn't just cost, it can be surprisingly affordable if you are willing to wait and have the covers "piggy backed" in with a larger order. The deciding factor was that not all golds are the same. The gold plated bridge, tail piece, tuners may all be slightly different than the covers. And I'm a little picky about colors matching. Instead, I went with cream covers, to match my bindings and knobs. Ironically, it turns out that not all creams are the same either.

If you are set on gold, my advice is to contact a local plater and see what he'd charge. Bring in something that you want to match and see what he thinks. Gold would be one-of-a-kind and look really sharp. If you can deal with a duller gold, look for powder coaters. Chrome can be powder coated with just a wipe down prep and holds up extremely well, usually better than plating and usually cheaper, too. I had some chrome Rickenbacker parts powder coated to match the factory black hardware 4 years ago and they still look new. $10 when I waited for a larger order to be run. Good luck.

That's a pretty good price. I think Allparts has them at about $175, at least that was the last time I checked. I've seen them on 335 type guitar. I found a pic of Alex Lifeson's 335. You can see his was custom made, not tailpiece holes to cover which wouldn't be a problem on a Casino.
