Maestro Vibrato

Is it possible to buy a maestro vibrato separately because I can't find one anywhere and I'm wondering if that's just something you can't buy. Just in case some of you aren't familiar with what a maestro vibrato is here is a link to one. http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/SG/Gibson-Custom/Robby-Krieger-SG.aspx If you can find a website where it is sold please list it in a comment. Thanks!

Allparts.com sells the un-engraved maestro vibratos, both the gold and chrome/nickel (can't remember) and the long and short versions.

Alternatively if you want a Gibson vibrato you can purchase a used one on ebay, with the gibson engraving.

Also I think you can send the guitar you want it on for installation to Gibson and it will be a new Gibson tailpiece. I don't know if they offer this again, but someone who did send it either from this forum or another said for the installation, part and filling and refinish of the old stoptail holes was $700

The tailpiece holes do show.

Here's the link to the AllParts un-engraved version (gold one, short ones also on nearby pages). They obviously can't one with the Gibson engraving due to trademark infringement.

Gibson also invented a quick and easy stop-tail bushing hiding devise, the "Custom Made" snap-in medallion. A piece of engraved two-ply plastic (similar to the truss rod cover material) that just pushes into the bushings. I have seen them available from aftermarket parts dealers also.

I believe that only works with the Bigsby not with the Maestro at least on SG guitars.

The trem arm piece blocks some of the holes so some of the holes show on the outside of the tailpiece.

Can you imagine a SG classic with this and nickel kidney bean grovers? Amber selector switch and witchhats?

Oh yea.....
