Neck profile comparison...Casino - Riviera

Hi there,

i´m thinking ´bout getting a inspired by Casino, but i´m not sure if the neck profile´s my taste....

So has anyone compared the Epi inspired by Casino neck with the Valensi Riviera neck?

If it´s the same, everything would be fine....

Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 2010 Valensi Riviera, and can tell you that the neck profile is quite narrow. It's made in Korea and the build quality is very good, but I'm probably going to put a new nut on it with slightly wider string spacing. The Chinese Casinos I've sampled had a significantly wider neck profile, and would probably work well for most players.

I'm not familiar with the Riviera neck profile but I'm very familiar with the Casino as I have 2-an '08 MIC natural and a 1965 John Lennon. Both Casinos are very comfortable to play but the John Lennon is just something else all together.I have 27 guitars of various makes and vintages but the John Lennon is by far my favourite and it's absolutely without a doubt the most comfortable neck that I've ever played.

By the way, what you mean by compfortable? Is it more on the small side or a little bigger? Is it a Slim Taper?

Well, if you're looking for the definition of comfortable, my vote would go to Gibson's 30/60 neck profile. I have both the ES-339 and ES-330L with this profile, and it's one of the best I've ever run across. Somewhat wide, not very deep, and very nicely rounded on the edges.

I guess they won´t be in my price range.....but thank you very much.

Not sure what you're looking for, but seeing as ES-335 type guitars have been mentioned here (along with Casinos).

If you're after a super-slim neck in a semi, then look no further than the Hagstroms.

I have small hands, and the Viking's neck (scrawnier than Beckham's missus on a serious hunger-strike) suits me just fine. My Strat used to feel very chunky in comparison.

Not to everyone's taste, but it suits me down to the ground! [biggrin]

Thanks very much, i ,love the look of those Hagstroms, but i prefer more "chunkier" necks....i don´t got small hands and those slim necks just don´t feel right....but thank you very much for that recommendation!

That sounds like you´re talking ´bout the neck of my Valensi Riviera...

Didn't realize you already have a Valensi Riviera. I thought you were considering it for purchase along with the other guitars mentioned. As for the Gibson 30/60 neck, even if these guitars are out of your price range right now, you can probably find one to sample on a 339 at Guitar Center. Since you're looking for a little more room on the fingerboard, it might make for an interesting frame of reference. Edit: Just now noticed on a different thread that you're in Germany! Never mind about Guitar Center, but it still might be good info for the future if you could try one of these necks.

What I meant by comfortable was the way that it feels in my fretting hand-my hands are on the small side-and just the slighest touch is needed to fret a note or chord.Quite simply it's the easiest on the hands of all my guitars even the superslim necked Hagstroms.
