Birki Posted May 22, 2011 Share Posted May 22, 2011 hello! my wonderful heritage i got from my step-grandfather (a very complete collection of old Austrian stamps) left me with great joy and incredible wealth. In fact I was lucky to sell that bunch of crap and after adding a few hundred bucks, I was able to convert the stamp collection to a Gibby SG standard, ebony. thanks, grandpa! however, this beautiful instrument left my epi G-400 somewhat behind in terms of beauty, despite the fact that it is a really nice guitar. so i HAD TO take some measures. the G-400 now resides like a porn starlet from the midwest side by side to the grande dame, the SG standard :D but honestly - changing the electronics to 250 kOhm Pots with .047 caps and a german silver plug, and placing some Gibson P-94s in there did make a huge difference. Actually, it turned the Epi from a nice little inexpensive guitar to a beast on steroids. The Bigsby B-5 added some vintage characteristics, and the Schaller-Tulips cured the neck dive of the G-400... it is now some sort of extra love affair, despite the fact that I am a happy husband ;) yours wolfi Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I just ordered a b70 for my P-94 equipped Les Paul Custom...those pickups made it a different guitar...very distinct from my elite LPC. Well done.
