Hi everyone.

My name is Thomas, and i joined as a member today.

Now what i was wondering about Epiphone bassguitars : Is there anything new we can expect from them?

Cause they don't have much electric bassguitars. The Thunderbird Pro V is awesome, but i would like too see more.

Any idea's?

well that doesn't sound so bad at all.

although most people won't like it, i still would like too have a 5 string flying V bassguitar :-D

something with a swamp ash body, 5 ply walnut / maple neck, deep set-neck construction, 2 EMG 40 CS pickups, MR2+ bridge!

and then painted in a nice metallic purple finish! (or rolls burgundy, would but sweet aswell)

makes me drool 24/7 thinking about that!

Actually there's been quite a few posts from people saying they'd at least like to see the Rivoli re-issued. I'd buy one if they re-issued it at a price closer to a Riviera/Casino guitar rather than the slightly inflated (UK) prices they went for previously.

besides some people having there own idea's about bassguitars, does someone knows if Epiphone is gonna bring some new designs on the market?

THey just rolled out the Zenith this year...or was it last year? And the Thunderbird Pro. But aside from that, I dont know. I'd like to see something new too.

Well...

I just got my wife the inexpensive, short scale SG bass. She played a Precision a bit in the late '70s, quit, sold the bass... now some 30+ years later thought she'd like to get back into it.

I like short scale basses. She picked at her new Christmas present bass and immediately said it seemed like easier and more fun to work with. My own long-scale Ibanez, btw, ain't been even looked at in two years. She got enough amp that I could steal both for a swing group where they've asked me to do a cupla gigs a year as it is...

Mostly if she gets in gear and back tuit, she'll be playing old country/rock/pop, either with acoustic pickers or small electric venues. Maybe a more versatile bass, maybe not. It depends on how she bonds with it. For what it's worth, it ain't got the biggest "bling," but it's marvelously made and finished for what it is.

So... I think there's definitely a place in the lineup for an inexpensive short scale bass. Note that Fender/Squier have more than a few variations in the same price/scale range.

As for the more expensive basses from Epi or whatever, I think the market will discover the positions which is why "we" see what we do in the on-line catalogs. If a basic concept of something sells, either as a pricey "special" or as a one-off run of an inexpensive instrument, the corporate folks at any given firm are responsible to determine what, how and how to make money on it.

I just bought an Epi EB3 Pearl Limited Edition bass and it's so good I can't get over it...I love this bass. Great quality and great wood. My only complaint - the tone controls are very limited in range...but the bass itself gives a great variety of tones with a little adjustment of the pup heights. I started playing in 1962, and have seen a few basses...this is a great one.

I'd also love to see a re-issue Rivoli bass...I'd have to break down and buy one...if the quality was as good as the new EB3's, they would become classics...again.
