scozz Posted October 27, 2008 Share Posted October 27, 2008 They'll most likely be black. Today zebras always come uncovered, they never have covers. Back in the late 50s the Gibson supplier of plastic ran out of black plastic, so for a while cream plastic was substituted. The black and cream bobbin were used side by side, and the zebra pickups were invented. In those days they all had covers, it wasn't untill latter that guitarists started removing them in search for a different sound, and the zebras were discovered.
