Timrobwall Posted January 15, 2012 Share Posted January 15, 2012 Thinking of installing Schaller locking machine heads on the 339. Tuning on this guitar can be touchy, IMO. roadhog96 Posted February 8, 2012 Share Posted February 8, 2012 Sounds like your having the same problem everyone has experienced with Gibson. More than likely it's an improper cut nut that's causing the strings to bind. Usually there is nothing wrong with the tuners and always the nut when we're talking about tuning issues with Gibson guitars. My 339 came with the standard Klusons and virtually every other 339 I have seen have Klusons. How did your's get the grovers I wonder? I love Grovers -- it would definitely be a plus for the 339, but as the standard tuners on the 339 -- well, that's a mystery how that happened.
