Moby
Could this be for real? I sent an email to the @craigslist.org email address in the listing and it bounced. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/msg/2789062863.html
j45nick
Who knows if it's real? The ES 150 came into production in 1936, so there's nothing obvious that is wrong. It's real easy to screw up entering those craiglist contact emails if you're using another email program, so I might try that again.
Moby
It is at least obvious that he has been flagged before. And it appears also that the 'seller' is very careful to not actually say that those items are for sale.
JimR56
It's pretty common for people to put up ads like this using photos they found online (ebay, etc). I've seen it many times on both ebay and Craigslist. On Craigslist, when the e-mail does work, the "seller" usually tries to get you to send them a partial payment, with the promise that they will provide further details and instructions. Most obvious red flag here is that they didn't put a price in the ad. Okay, I did a google search for that photo, and I found these links to previous discussions about this set being for sale in 2009 and also in 2011: http://theunofficialmartinguitarforum.yuku.com/reply/829553/t/Seeking-info-vintage-ES-150-lots-of-photos.html#.TxkC_mNWpzw http://www.jazzguitar.be/forum/guitar-amps-gizmos/15372-sale-rare-1938-gibson-set-complete.html

I would never have thought, and I am the suspicious type.
pfox14
So, is it for sale or NOT? Why do people bother to post this stuff if they aren't for real? Nice looking ES-150 though.
JimR56
So, is it for sale or NOT? I doubt it, but you could always try e-mailing the person and see if they're for real. Why do people bother to post this stuff if they aren't for real? To try to trick people into sending them money. It's happened to me three times after answering Craigslist ads, and there used to be (maybe still is) rampant fraud on ebay, where people posted listings of items they didn't actually own (they used photos and descriptions from expired listings).
