moullineaux
Hello everyone. This is my first post and I was wondering if anyone else has run into my problem. I have a Songwriter Deluxe and I took it out of the case the other day and noticed that on the sound hole side of the bridge the finish is lifting off the soundboard. I have sent an email to the repair center but it would be nice to know if anyone else has had this happen to one of their babies. Any response would be appreciated. Thanks, M. BigKahune
. Welcome. Do you use an in-case humidifier? .
moullineaux
. Welcome. Do you use an in-case humidifier? No, but I keep it in a humidity controlled environment with all my other acoustics which seem to be fine. Thanks for the inquiry, M .
BigKahune
. The reason I asked is that some of those in-case/in-soundhole humidifiers, like Dampit, can leak a few drips of water on the unfinished inside of the guitar causing the finish to bubble/lift. How did the repair center respond? .
Jeremy Morton
My guess is that the guitar dried out a bit and the top shrunk a little and the bridge did not. This caused the lacquer that is against the bridge to lift because it had no place to go. it is important to humidify the guitar if it is going to sit a while.
