You didn't have to say anything, Sal. The music did it. Good job.

I only use 13s on my Epi Texan, tuned down to Eb. That really suits the downtuned meaty strings, with the long scale and thunderous bass response it has.

Since I tune down to Eb on all my guitars I find anything less that the 13s sounds a little floppy to my ears, long or short scale.

Cool performance. Loved seeing that band with Larry Campbell and Charlie Sexton.

Well Done! Nice duo and good tunes. I really enjoyed listening to all 23 minutes. I like this kind of music and enjoyed the sound of two different guitars and your use of keys and capos.
The first tune was my favorite and a good opener for you all. What kind of pick up are you using in your J-50. Just curious as my main guitar is a 48 J-45 and I have debated installing a pick up.
Your recording gives a pretty good sound of what I might expect if I do the same. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the kind words, RD. I've got a K&K Mini plugged into a Red Eye Preamp. The monitor sound was a bit more resonant sounding to me than what I hear through the Cable Access TV feed on the video, probably due to limitations of the equipment. Would love to see some photos of your '48 J-45!

I have one for you. 175 is fine. I basically have used it a couple hours, I just don't gig any more. I may still have the box, I have an unused jack I'll send with it, I just used a cable from the pickup to my roland BA.
you can email me at or give me a ring at 513-252-8300.

Hey!I live by the intersection of Broadway and Fountainebleau near Carrollton. Abita Springs is nice. I'm playing on the front porch as the free opener for the Abita Springs Opry show on 9/21 from around 5:45 PM to 7 PM. It's no big deal (I don't even get listed on the website, which is kinda sad). If you get over there, come and say hi! Few characters left. Can write more a...
