Topics I've Started
24 February 2017 - 08:14 PMI really never would have anticipated this when I bought this ac30 but since it's been so problematic and has a lot of features that I don't want, I just decided to gut the whole thing and rebuild it using the chassis and cabinet.
Here's the gutted chassis, which is going to be great to work with since it has so much space
And here are most of the circuit boards that came out
I'm going to rebuild it using tagstrips in a similar style to the old ac30/4 and ac30/6, but with just the (EF86) normal channel and top boost channel
If anyone has a cool suggestion on what to do with an unused triode in this circuit I'm all ears!

Slapped a B3 on the SG. Where you at EVOL?
21 January 2017 - 06:19 PMI took my old bandmate to the OC guitar show today and it was a blast. We saw lots of great guitars and amps and some deals that were really difficult to pass up.
For you Bonamassa fans, Joe was there with a booth showing some of his vintage Strats. I chatted with him for a minute and he was nice.
I only played a couple guitars because I didn't really want to "need" to spend a couple K. One was an old small body Gibson acoustic for $1,000. It felt nice but Gibson acoustics tend to not sound very good to my ears and this was no exception. Then we were chatting with a guy that we met and I tried out an old white Firebird. Not sure of the year but probly 60s. Through the danelectro/silvertone amp they had there, it sounded freakin amazing and had a perfect neck too. The sound was snappy and clear, almost like a Tele but a more bite. I could have spent all day with that little setup.
There was also a guy with a really nice selection of vintage effects. He had an Ampeg Scrambler, Ludwig Phase II, original Rangemaster, some Superfuzzes and Fuzzrites, etc. I chatted with him for a while and may bring some stuff to trade him tomorrow. Kinda want that Rangemaster
Anyway there were a lot of cool things that I didn't take photos of but I snapped a few for you guys
This Trump guitar was priced $1,000,000 OBO xD
19 November 2016 - 04:27 PMJust picked up this Squire J Bass today. Walked into a little shop just to browse and thought this purple color was cool. Picked it up and it plays really nicely but sounds a little bright with the roundwounds. The dude threw in a free set of flats for $200 out the door, and I took it
If I had one complaint it would be that the fret ends could use a little love which is common with these things but wow Squier has really come a long way since I started playing.. This is a great bass
Here's a pic in my beautiful motel room
14 November 2016 - 03:52 PMOk I know we've done this before but the standby switch thread reminded me that some of you guys are hiding some cool amps. Yeah I'm talkin to you jdgm! Surfpup too! Makes me wonder what we have lurking in the corners here. Vintage, new, tube, solid state, it's all good just don't post your Line 6 Spider
You've probably already seen my Twin here. I'm away from home so I can't take pics of my other stuff but this is the best one anyways
