  1. Technically Rhythm & Blues isn't Rock....but Rock wouldn't exist without it.... Rockabilly isn't Rock, but many acts are on the borderline between Rockabilly and Rock. I said C & W isn't Rock before....and it isn't....but there are quite a few crossover acts. I think trying to stay with the strict definition of "Rock & Roll" would be difficult. I do not enjoy Rap....but it's what many of the younger generation prefer...so if you want the HOF to continue, they HAVE to cater to that music also.
  2. I learned the basics of piano while working in a music store back in the 60's. i simply LOVE to play them, (I have 2 pianos in the house). What I like is that I can look at the keys, and I KNOW how to make whatever chord I want to make. The piano is easier on the hands and shoulders than is the guitar....so I'm trying to get as much recorded on the guitar before my hands/shoulders give out....then concentrate on the piano. I bought the piano from a lady who had just lost her husband, (back in 1976). She said he played it all the time, and was the center of attention at all their gatherings playing it....she couldn't stand to see it sitting in her home...so I grabbed it up. A guitar you can take with you on a date....but a piano, you have to bring your date home! First time my wife came to my condo, I played for her....now, we just celebrated out 46th Anniversary! So here's a photo of the piano back in 1976. You'll notice the Jubilee standing next to it.
  3. Johnson, because of my bursitis, I play the smaller Jubilee every day. When I finally get a song to the point I want to record it, I usually grab the "appropriate" guitar for the task. The DIF gives me the best tone, but the neck is very narrow. Guitar has to be mic'd. The 'Bird Koa has the best neck and is good for when I have to use my right hand accurately. Guitar has to be mic'd. The Dove I tend to use for 'serious' songs, has the longer scale neck so the strings are a little tighter. Guitar has to be mic'd. The J-50 is relatively new to my pack....was a gift 4 years ago from my staff when I retired. It was my every-day player until my right shoulder got so bad I couldn't do it every day. The 12-String is a wonderful guitar.... I use it whenever a 12-String is necessary, or if I need to 'fill-up' the sound a little. I also use if for when a song needs to be finger-picked....I cheat by flat-picking the 12-String. So, I have maybe 560 songs posted on YouTube.... probably evenly divided between the 5 dreds.... the Jubilee doesn't get as much play as the others....but since I put a cheap pickup in it, it gets played more.
  4. Sixty-Tu.... I tend to lean on the sustain pedal a lot so I have time to make my chord changes. I've owned the piano for 48 years.....never a string change since I've owned it. The 3-String area on this piano allow you to tune each string individually, (on many pianos, you tune two strings at once), so you can get it pretty close without breaking strings all over the place! I really like the candle holders..... when the electricity used to go out, (before the home generator) I used to light them and just play in the dark.
  5. Yes... that's a 2010....I got it from another Forum member many years ago. I'm told it's the ONLY right-handed Hummingbird 12-String made that year, (I'm guessing there was a Left-Handed one also made). I've made well over 100 videos with it....plays and sounds like a dream!
  6. The piano is an 1871-74 Carl Ronisch piano. I've had it since 1976, so it was over 100 years old when I got it. Ronisch pianos are still being built today. It's not as tall as an upright, but taller than a spinet. It sounds like an old upright. I still play it.... I've tuned it dozens of times....it needs tuning right now. Here's an example of how it sounds:
  7. We haven't made it to the Palm Springs show in a couple of years.... maybe next year, (it's help the first weekend of the year). Would love to get together with you!
  8. Dog, I did struggle to find the window that allowed me to grab a "direct link".....but hopefully, I'll get it down.
  9. Yeah, I tend to vote for acts I consider "Rock"....but others might consider Rap a form of Rock Music....just not me.... but I'm of the generation that will soon be gone....and the museum needs to install acts the younger generations consider "Rock".
  10. I could only vote for one....and I voted for Peter Frampton. Last year I voted for Warren Zevon. I understand the HOF cannot ONLY be for Old-Time Rockers....it HAS to include music for the next generation...and the generaton after that. I suppose they can manipulate the votes, (If it can be done in a US Presidential Election, it sure as heck can be done by a private museum), but the inductees SHOULD be selected by a vote of the members. I think they do a pretty good job of getting new inductees, and a FABULOUS job of presenting the memorabilia there.
  11. Just figuring out how to post photos....so I thought I'd post a photo of my Gibson Herd.....all are square shoulder dreds except the first on on the left, (Jubilee).
  12. Now don't confuse me...... Do you see Lydia Pense from Cold Blood, leaning on me, right? Rick Stevens lead singer of Tower Of Power on the right with white pants? Sal Valentino lead singer of The Beau Brummels in the back talking to Alec Paleo, Grammy Nominated Record Producer? Gregory Correa, host of the TV Show, "Harmonics" in the stripped shirt in front?
  13. I think I've made progress. My images were hidden because I hadn't given them a title or name so posting couldn't happen. So, my image is now in a window that looks like yours....so I'll try to post the image now to see how it comes out. Thanks.
  14. Okay.... I'm trying this time from my laptop.... https://imgur.com/a/STA3m2j Still no.....I'm doin' something wrong.
  15. I didn’t see “ direct link” as an option. https://imgur.com/a/rSkJNWs I hit return….nothing……
  16. You're a good person, Dog. Life is what happens while we're making other plans. We have two Affenpinschers, so I told the wife there was no way we'd keep the new puppy.....but..... she's stolen my heart......so she's here for the long run!
  17. I'll give this a try later on today.....thanks.
  18. Yes, I used a photo of the new puppy....we call her "Backyard Barbie" 'cause her mom & dad are siblings! (was a mistake breeding).
  19. That doesn’t seem to be right.
  20. Just trying to figure out how Imgur works. https://imgur.com/a/yVt0cUu
  21. 40....you're speaking my language! I've heard songs all my life, that suddenly catch my attention. I think it's because songs take us back to times and places and events from out past.....and as you acquire more wisdom, they mean so much more. I put an arrangement together of "The City Of New Orleans" some years ago..... Steve Goodman songs are tougher than they appear!
  22. This would be perfect for me....everything I play I tend to speed up during the song!
  23. Yeah…..I think that’s why I shelved it back in the 80’s.
