  1. If I remember right Richlite is recycled paper soaked in resin. While it's still available, I'll get guitars with wood fretboards. If I'm alive when wood is no longer available for guitars or parts of guitars, I'll get the synthetic ones. But I've got a pretty good backlog of guitars made of traditional woods and I'll probly add to the backlog in the intervening years. So I may be able to get by without buying no new ones when there's no more traditional wood guitars no more. I do like the carbon fiber guutars made by Rainsong though.
  2. Naah, already got a real Tele. Don't need that ugly thing with strident PRS pickups and 3 tuners on each side. Looks like a candy-apple that was dipped too long.
  3. I got a 2019 Gibson ES-335 made in Nashville. But in 2019 the gloss ES-335 dots had Memphis Historic Spec II (MHS II) humbuckers and the Memphis Tone Circuit Plus (MTC Plus) circuitry. Not sure what if any difference there is between MHS pickups and MHS II. Too my ears these puckups sound outstanding. Clear and complex when clean and they bark, growl and snarl very well when dirty. They're not exactly high gain but hey it's a ES-335, that's not what I bought it for.
  4. Yeah Gibson ES-335s from those years had a glued paper label in the upper F hole that indicates what year it is as well as the serial no. Also those years included a CoE in the case. And it's just a matter of matching up the serial no. on the CoE with the serial no. on the label in the F hole. My 2019 is awesome as far playability, sound and build quality.
  5. No not at all. I got a V new not too long ago and still love it. It's my 2nd Gibson V ever. I sold the 1st one 'cause the newer one is better. It's a natural gloss color and made out a mahogany and rosewood fretboard with dot markers. This one is Plek'd and plays super smooth and fast. The tone is similar to a LP but maybe not quite as full, but very good sounding nevertheless. Surprisingly Vs hang perfect on a strap standing and it's quite comfortable sitting if you put your right thigh in the crotch of the V. Most of them are pretty light because it takes less wood to make them than some other models. Mine weighs 6.72 lbs. If you're intrested in a V, I'd get one while they're available. Cheers
  6. How about the Firebird Zero? 😆
  7. Oh no, say it ain't so Joe! I was just about to get ready to snag one a those.
  8. First I heard a this, but I'm not really up on all the differences in models. My 2021 Gibson LP Standard '50s that I got new gots a beveled pickguard.
  9. I got three 2019 Gibson LP Special slab sided Tributes. Two of 'em are singlecuts with humbuckers, and the third is a DC with P90s. They are no frills, satin nitro finish with dot inlays and no neck binding. But they are awesome sounding and playing guitars. The frets are Plek'd for smooth fast playability. The 490R and 490T pickups are not too hot and not too cold, but just right. The bodies are 2 or 3 piece mahogany, no veneers on top or bottom to try to make 'em look better. And the fretboards on all three are a nice dark rosewood, not pau ferro or Indian laurel 🤮. In short, durable, great sounding and playing guutars that you're not afraid to play in a rowdy bar.
  10. OK, yeah just realized your OP was a few months old.
  11. OP you didn't mention if the case was original and/or worth keeping. But if yes, hopefully your keeping the case open for long periods of time too to get rid of the smell. I got a few used guitars, but luckily none a them smelled liked cigarettes before yet. Good luck.
  12. There's 3 left handed Gibson TV Yellow Les Paul Special single cuts for sale right now on Seeetwater, plus a demo. Not affiliated.
  13. I tried a few Epiphone and Gibson ESs in a store recently. The Epiphones were pretty good, but the Gibsons sounded much better. I liked the feel of the neck better on the Gibsons and both the neck and bodies vibrated and resonated better than the Epiphones. The Plek'd frets on the Gibsons were just so smooth and played so much better than the fretwork on the Epiphones. The Gibsons had nice rosewood fretboards and I wasn't that crazy about the feel a the Indian laurel fretboards on the Epiphones. The Epiphones' shiny poly finish felt sticky compared to the nitro finish on the Gibsons. P.S. As @Sgt. Pepper says, the Heritages are great guitars and pretty much as good or in some cases better than a Gibson. I got a H-535 (Heritage's version of the ES335) and I love it.
  14. New guy here. Saw this site while searching on the internet so I checked it out. So I'm a guitar player and like and play Gibsons a lot, but other brand guitars too. Got some LPs, ESs and other stuff too. So just dropping in to say hi.
