This is the same guitar as the 1957 Historic but with an upgraded Adirondack top and binding on the soundhole. It is not a one off custom shop guitar but from the Vintage line made from 2013-2018(give or take). No electronics. Setup with low action at 2.5/32” and 1.5/32” with a 3/16” tall saddle. Clearer, more responsive and louder tone than any other modern J-200 I have played which I attribute to the baked Adirondack top. One small blemish on the top that the dealer I bought it from did not disclose. It’s hard to notice but I tried to photograph it. Otherwise this J-200 is in very clean condition with no significant dings or scratches. No electronics. OHSC $4500 net to me. Open to trades for other acoustics (though I will not be tempted by much). How did you measure? Measuring from the front of the nut to the center of the 12th fret and multiplying by 2 will give you the scale length. Measuring from the front of the nut slot to the saddle will be longer than the true scale length.

The shift from Brazilian rosewood seems to be the line for Martin. I would probably use the shift to the belly down bridge in 68/69 for Gibson. It really shouldn’t be a stagnant line though. Cars become “antique” after a specified number of years and guitars should be treated the same IMO.

Iris is making boutique builds below manufactured prices. Super responsive. High end woods. I had a DF that was great and I currently have a ND-200 that is a bit too big for me to play comfortably but it’s more responsive than any J-200 I’ve played. Not sure if it’s going to stick but sounds superb. Is there still a buy and sell around here?

These are all some good looking guitars! I have a J-45 Vintage I am going to sell or I’d like to trade toward a ‘57 SJ-200 Reissue or Elite Custom. I have a ‘44 Banner maple J-45 and the J-45 Vintage is actually too similar.

I had one of these and regret selling it. Anyone played once against the new '57 Reissue or J-200 Vintage? anyone have one they want to sell? it's been awhile since i have been around here but i thought there was a classified section. is that not the case anymore?

Has anyone had Gibson build them a guitar via the Made2Measure program? Don Ruffatto told me they can make customs through a dealer nowadays. Any specific dealer recommendations? I know they did this quite some time ago but I didn’t know they were doing it now.

Hey guys, that one’s mine. It has a very modern feeling neck. Maybe JT can confirm but I believe all the 13 fret NL’s had floating bridges. That’s what John Arnold told me. Anyway, this guitar may be my all one favorite but arthritis is limiting my play so I’m selling all my high end stuff.

I’m referring to the J-45 Vintage with a baked top made somewhere from 2012-2019. I like the neck. Just curious how these new reissue necks compare. DaveF, It appears your rosewood 42 Southern Jumbo reissue has a slimmer neck. How do you like it’s tone?

Anyone know if these have identical necks?

LET THE BUYER GET IT FIXED!!! i had a well known collector tell me yesterday about a guitar he was trying to buy but the owner insisted on getting it "fixed" first. sure enough - it came back butchered by the guy he sent it to. so, he didn't buy it/the owner no longer had a sale. for those of us with old instruments, we have our own guy(s) whom we trust. for this job, given it's a rare type/unique bridge replacement, you need someone who knows what they are doing and the buyer needs to trust that person. sell it as is via consignment and your life will be easier and you'll get what it's worth.

you can get a new JB Model 1 from Fullers for $3600 currently. that's not too far off from a new SJ-200 if i am not mistaken.
